This spacious and comfortable dwelling from the beginning of the century was built by a certain Mr. Desjardins on Route 11, which was known for a long time as the "route du Nord" and is nowadays Valiquette Street. It was the ideal place to raise a large family.
During the Crisis years, the living-room served as the office for the gas-station across the street (now a convenience store). Later, Mr. Desjardins’ family occupied only the second floor of the house and the bottom floor became the post-office for Sainte-Adèle-en-Bas. This sturdy building was in turn a daycare, a fireplace accessory business, and from 1979 on, its vocation as a restaurant has been brought to the forefront: first with the "Bistro de la poste", then "Café de la poste", followed by "L’Ailloli de la poste", finally to become "Chez Milot" in October 1985.
Claude Descôteaux, a graduate of the ITHQ, and his wife Carmen McDonald, having already worked in the restaurant business for 25 years, fulfilled their dream in October 1990 when they bought this charming restaurant, where one day, some years back, they had told each other: "Some day, we’ll have a restaurant just like this one.""
